The University of Florida encourages early undergraduate students who are interested in adding a research experience to their curriculum at the freshman or sophomore year to apply for this entry-level program. To participate, students must identify a research mentor and project that they will work on for two semesters, beginning in the second semester of their freshman or sophomore year. (The second semester will either be the following summer or fall semester). A $1,000 award will be disbursed in two parts for each semester of research.

Freshman or Sophomore status only
Research Mentor must be in one of the following colleges: Arts, Business, CALS, CLAS, Dentistry, DCP (Design, Construction and Planning), Education, Engineering, HHP, The Florida Museum of Natural History, Medicine, Pharmacy, or PHHP.
Must have NO previous research experience (including in high school)
Must identify a research mentor who will sponsor you
The complete application will include a Personal Statement, a description of the research project and a letter of support from the research mentor.
