Chris Curran, PhD, MA

Dr. Chris Curran is an Associate Professor for the School of Human Development and Organizational Studies in Education, College of Education. Dr. Curran’s research focuses on issues of equity in education with a particular focus on the ways that school discipline and safety contribute to racial disparities in educational outcomes. He also has an active body of research that examines early childhood education, particularly in science.  His research interests include: Educational Equity, School Safety, Early Childhood Education, Policy Analysis, and Racial Disparities in Educational Outcomes. 

Dr. Curran reached out to CUR to recruit undergraduate researchers for two projects.  Where are we policing? Identifying school police through web-scraping and an earlier project titled “Ban the Discipline Box? The Impact of College Applications that ask about Prior Discipline on College Acceptance.”  He continues to support our undergraduate researchers by posting available projects to our student opportunity database.
