Dr. Yenisel Cruz-Almeida is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Aging & Geriatric Research and the Department of Community Dentistry and Behavioral Science as well as the Associate director of training and career development for PRICE (Pain Research and Intervention Center of Excellence). Her research focus is related to understanding age-related pain perception and modulation in humans. Using multiple interdisciplinary and translational approaches, her research examines nervous system factors contributing to the observed inter-individual differences in pain phenotypes and its functional consequences including cognitive and mobility impairments.
During her time at UF, Dr. Cruz Almeida has supported CUR’s efforts by mentoring four students in the University Scholars Program and currently mentoring a student in the Emerging Scholars Program.
