Dr. Douglas Spearot is a Professor in the Department of Mechanical & Aerospace Engineering in the College of Engineering. His research centers on the use of atomistic and mesoscale simulation techniques to study the mechanical and thermodynamic properties of materials, with particular focus on the behavior of interfaces. Ultimately, the information gleaned from atomistic and mesoscale simulations is used to construct a multiscale understanding of material behavior. He currently mentors 3 undergraduate research students from the University of Florida, including two University Scholars. Previously, he has mentored 5 undergraduate students from the University of Florida and many more from other universities.
