Dr. Carolina Maciel is a Clinical Assistant Professor of Neurology and Neurosurgery and the Director of Research, Division of Neocritical Care, Department of Neurology, College of Medicine. She is the founding member of the Cardiac Arrest Resource Team, Dr. Maciel’s research interests include the humbling task of predicting neurologic outcome following acute brain injury, the mechanisms related to secondary brain injury in the neurocritically ill, and the critical care management of the potential organ donor. Dr. Maciel’s infectious enthusiasm and dedication to sharing knowledge with peers and students resulted in receiving a teaching award during residency. Examining a patient with impaired consciousness is an art that Dr. Maciel’s enjoys teaching.
Dr. Maciel has partnered with CUR, using our student opportunity database, to recruit undergraduate researchers for a project on brain resuscitation.
