Emily Miller-Cushon, PhD

Dr. Emily Miller-Cushon is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Animal Sciences. Dr. Miller-Cushon conducts research and teaching in the areas of animal behavior and animal welfare. In general, her research investigates the relationships between management, behavior, and welfare of farm animals. Current research focuses include, feeding and social behavior patterns of dairy calves in response to different management factors and in relation to other measures of welfare. Dr. Miller-Cushon ultimately aims to apply research findings to identify management strategies conducive to good welfare, as well as behavioral measures which may be used to assess welfare on farm.

Dr. Miller-Cushon uses the CUR database to find undergraduates for her research and has mentored 2 University Scholars since 2016!
