The UF Blueberry Breeding and Genomics Lab (https://www.blueberrybreeding.com/) is looking for an undergrad to automate different phenotyping stations. The successful candidate student will assemble automated photographic stations to take pictures and process data of blueberry samples. The candidate must have hands-on experience with Raspberry Pi and/or Arduino systems, be independent, self-motivated, and willing to work in a multidisciplinary environment. There is the possibility of publication and software authorship. No prior experience with plants or biology is needed. It is a paid position after a short experience period. This project will give students the opportunity to work in a diverse environment and, also, to sharpen their knowledge in robotics and programming. And, of course, free fresh blueberries during the harvest period.
We will consider only candidates from Engineering majors with demonstrated experience with Raspberry Pi and/or Arduino projects. If you are interested, send us an e-mail with your CV attached and “Automated phenotyping for blueberries position” in the title.
