Marissa Secades is a three-time graduate of the University of Florida with a bachelor’s degree in General Theatre, a bachelor’s degree in English, and a master’s degree in Mass Communication. During her undergraduate career at UF, Marissa was a member of the inaugural class for the Emerging Scholars Program and, later, the University Scholars Program. Her research topics explored the power of female spectatorship and the use of color theory in American cinema. She has won a handful of awards for her scholarship, including the Best Paper Award for Qualitative Research & Writing from the UF Undergraduate Research Symposium.
