Research Project

Spreading Awareness or Apathy: Would trademarking social justice movements simply commodify their message?

My project will explore the current trademark denial precedent set by the United States Patent and Trade Office, why exceptions are made, as well as analyze the ramifications between the rise of social justice movements and the increased desire to trademark their associated phrases, through a thorough review of the literature and expert opinions within the field.
