Research Project

The effects of the pandemic on women in Lebanon as victims of domestic violence and the extent to which emerging female political leaders and activists address this issue as a part of the national response plan.

The COVID-19 pandemic is an ongoing pandemic that has had an enormous impact on the whole world and has caused economic, social, political, and health destabilization. It is during this time that an increase in domestic violence has been reported amid the lockdown. This research project focuses on the effects of the pandemic on women in Lebanon as victims of domestic violence in comparison with domestic violence rates from previous years and it further investigates the measurements taken by Lebanese female activists in addressing and effectively working on this issue.
