Research Project

Chronic Pain and Aging on Visuo-Tactile-Proprioceptive Integration

The purpose of this study is to investigate the role of chronic pain and aging on the impairment of visuo-tactile-proprioceptive integration. We intend to incorporate the size-weight illusion to accomplish this goal. The use of the size-weight illusion in past studies has shown evidence of an increased reliance of proprioception in patients with anorexia nervosa. We are curious to see what implications the size-weight illusion will provide us for patients with chronic pain, particularly in older adults.
