Novel Ni-based superalloy compositions for single crystal turbine blades will be simulated and experimentally investigated in an effort to validate a methodology for rapid development. Thermo-Calc will be used with the TCNI8 database for prediction of stability and other properties. Experimental procedures will then be performed to assess the validity of the predictions. These methods include Scanning Electron Microscopy, Energy Dispersive Spectroscopy, X-Ray Diffraction, and Differential Scanning Calorimetry. The alloys of interest will then be determined to be either viable or unviable for further investigation. The overall methodology will also be analyzed for improvement.
