Research Project

Exploring New Sources of Silk Fibroin for Biomaterials Applications

The goal of the project is to look for new sources of silk for biomaterials applications and we are now looking at the silk sheets of Plodia Interpunctella. To utilize this new silk, we have been using and slightly altering the protocols developed for isolating silk fibroin from other proteins in bombyx mori silk.
