There is a large body of research that helps explain successful foster parenting and effective foster parent retainment. However, not much is known about the barriers to foster parent recruitment. The goal of my research is to identify how to increase the interest in foster parenting. I intend to do this through identifying the general knowledge and exposure of adults about the need for and issues facing foster parents, as well as their perceived barriers to deciding to foster. My goal is to determine if education about the need for foster parents and the process of becoming a foster parent increases the general population’s interest in foster parenting.
