Research Project

Introduced and vagrant bird species population trends in South Florida?

This research project will investigate trends in both introduced birds and natural vagrancy and colonization in the subtropical South Florida region. I intend to explore reasons for the successes and failures of so many exotic species in the Miami area. The results of this study will be applicable to future research involving avian adaptability to climate change and urbanization. The effects of such drastic changes to the environment are still unfolding today, and I hope to improve our ability to predict how natural and human-induced bird colonization will shape future avian biodiversity.
