Every year students are taught about the basics: math, science, English and history. The problem with how history is taught in the education system is that some of the country’s history is erased. Often minority students do not see themselves in their education because it just isn’t taught when they are in elementary, middle, and high school. There is a lack of representation in our education system for minority students and students of different ethnicities. I would like to propose doing research through oral history, historical pieces, documentaries, and different writings to show how Latinx students aren’t exposed to their culture through school and the different fights about the lack of ethnic studies. When students are not allowed to learn about their culture, they are being forced to conform to appease the education system. They lose a part of themselves. Being able to learn about them makes a difference for minority students.
