Research Project

The Effects of Group and Individual Housing on Dairy Calve’s Cognition and Development?

The purpose of my research is to determine the behavioral effects on dairy calves raised in different social environments. Each calf will be randomly assigned to either an individual or group housing treatment. Then they will be assessed on their ability to react to novel situations. Collecting this information can be crucial in determining a calf’s welfare and social development later in life. This research will help farmers determine whether they should group or individually house their calves.
