The research project aims to determine the degree to which needle polishing positively affects biopsy success rates in tissue extraction for breast cancer diagnosis. Once the needle internal/external polishing process has been optimized, testing will be carried out on a variety of samples meant to replicate the behavior of human tissue during biopsy procedures. Eventually, the optimization of the needle insertion process will lead to the development of a portable biopsy sample collector which aims to implement the polished needle technology in a practical and mobile application of the needle insertion.
