The purpose of this research is to develop the exchange requirements for the lifecycle of bridges and begin the beta version of the Bridge ontology (the interactive web database – mockup given in paper). This research utilizes a spreadsheet of bridge software terms called the BrIM Data Dictionary. The BrIM DD was developed by the preliminary work seeking information exchange standard for bridges by research conducted by my advisor, Dr. Costin. He is currently a co-investigator in a large Transportation Pool Fund program, “BIM for Bridges and Structures”. This University scholars research is important because it will assist in the exchange requirements needed to support the TPF project, as well as explore other applications in the app for transportation research.
