Abstract
After delving into the male-dominated history of skateboarding, ten female skateboarders, who reside in the U.S., have decided to share their narrative of their personal experience in the skateboarding community. Delving into social constructs, this study explores the various perceptions of risk among female skateboarders. Using thematic qualitative content analysis, this paper sheds light on the positive and negative experiences that these women often face. In order to break down barriers in the community, this research displays both the inequalities and improvements for women in a male-dominated sport like skateboarding in the early 2020s.
