Elena Ashburn

Biography
Elena Ashburn is a senior majoring in political science and international studies (Europe), with minors in African studies, philosophy, and family, youth, and community sciences. She has served as a Junior Research Fellow in the Department of Political Science and a Research Fellow in the Center for European Studies. She has also interned at the Department of State and the American Political Science Association, where she conducted research and data visualizations for policy objectives. Her research interests include conflict, political violence, security studies, sanctions, and post-colonial relations/neocolonialism. Outside of CURBS, Elena is a Florida Cicerone, an ambassador for the Center for African Studies, and she is actively involved in the Women’s Student Association and the Bob Graham Center for Public Service. In her (very limited) free time, Elena can be found listening to podcasts, honing her barista skills, and laughing until her sides hurt with her friends.
