Nick Marotta

Biography
Nick is a second-year Biochemistry and Microbiology and Cell Science double major pursuing a minor in Bioinformatics and an AI Fundamentals certificate. His research interests are protein design and molecular dynamics in human health, and he aspires to earn a PhD in molecular biology. He is currently designing a protein to convert type A blood into the universal blood type in Dr. Perez’s Molecular Recognition Group through the University Scholars Program/AI Scholars and designing a protein biosensor for bone decay in the UFlorida iGEM team. Outside of research, Nick volunteers at H-Camp and the McCarty Woods and enjoys weight lifting, playing guitar, and traveling with friends.
