A nation’s cultural identity influences the experiences of citizens and dictates the systematic tendencies of a nation. Currently, we are experiencing a global pandemic that has challenged the typical ways nations function, as there have been 102-million cases with over 2.2-million deaths worldwide. Every nation has a different reaction to COVID-19 based on their cultural identity, and a nation’s response to COVID-19 can be correlated through the use of Hofstede’s Cultural-Dimensions. His Dimensions have been numerically evaluated by the following themes: Power-Distance-Index, Individualism/Collectivism, Masculinity/Femininity, Uncertainty-Avoidance-Index, Long-term orientation/Short-term orientation, & Indulgence/Restraint. The differences in data of Hofstede’s Cultural-Dimensions in 8 countries (United States, New Zealand, Iceland, Brazil, United Kingdom, Singapore, Vietnam, and Mexico) will be evaluated to link the intrinsic qualities of a nation’s culture with the extrinsic actions of the nation’s response to COVID-19. To ‘define’ a nation’s COVID-19 response, governmental mandates, number of cases/deaths, institutions of lockdowns, xenophobic crime rates against Asians, and the compliancy to follow mandates will be noted by looking at each country’s news articles. Data regarding Hofstede’s Dimensions will be utilized from the publications of his 6-Dimension Model. The purpose of the research is not to critique COVID-19 responses, but to evaluate the correlation between Hofstede’s Cultural-Dimensions with a country’s response to the pandemic. **Note that data regards case-numbers from January 29th at 6 pm EST**
